IBSA, Inc., in partnership
with other concerned companies cordially invite you to become a corporate
sponsor of this exciting initiative.
Our organization has played a vital role in the lives of many youth and
young adults from underserved communities for over 10 years. Our Youth Explorer program is an
initiative to provide entrepreneurial training, financial literacy, and life
skills to underserved youth by making available to students between the ages of
12 and 15 years old an opportunity to earn some legitimate
income.
National statistics show
that each year an unacceptably high number of youth from underserved communities
fail to develop the academic, social and citizenship skills necessary to
complete and succeed in today’s
society. Today, more than ever, in
a knowledge-based economy, it is knowledge that matters. Our community-based program will be
another mechanism of closing both the economic and digital divide through
entrepreneurial training and technology.
If we as partners are effective, we will pass on to our children, and
they to theirs, a stronger household, community, state and
nation.
Sponsorship, grants, and
donations will help us foster and facilitate an environment of positive youth
practices and programs. Other
counsel will focus on basic life skills, computer skills, economics, finances,
business operations and technology utilization. By the end of program segments, students
will have both theoretical and practical experience for exemplifying teamwork,
leadership, and citizenship.
Leadership, involvement and
action clearly shows our commitment to closing the economic and digital
divide that exist in the homes of our clients.
We humbly request financial
support as well as professional volunteers from other organizations willing to
participate.
Please contact Lazone Grays
President/CEO of the IBSA at 785-232-4272 for more information on how to get
involved in this program.
Youth Entrepreneurial
Program
The success of this program is measured after each module or activity youth participants are involved in. Students are tracked and evaluated on school performance, community involvement, and meeting sales forecasts. Passing scores must be attained before a student can move to the next module. Course evaluations are completed by the instructors, students and administrative staff.
IBSA’s entrepreneurial program instruct kids between 12 and 15 years old on the principles of commissioned, residual and leveraged income. Throughout the years, as many as 20 kids have been in the program at a time. Paid staffers and volunteers instruct the teens that may sell raffle tickets for things like televisions and grocery shopping sprees, at festivals and fireworks events. The kids also sell greeting cards and calendars during the holiday season or a variety of other products and services.
In order to facilitate the financial needs of youth who don't receive allowances or are to young to get a regular job (even fast-food), we have devised several entrepreneurial opportunities to allow enterprising young people an opportunity to earn some legitimate money. We have not re-invented the wheel, but we have looked at what works across a variety of programs and have chosen those elements we feel are critical for our youth to understand, plus we provide products and services by our agency and business affiliates for them to sell for-profit.
Different products made available may be items they can sell all year round, or they may be something sold seasonally. The 'Return on Investment' or 'Commissions' available is important to us and therefore we look for opportunities that provide a maximum return to youth that sell the products.
